#NationalSandwichDay inspired us to have sandwiches for lunch. We were going to go with an old favorite, but happened to see a few posts in our Instagram feed about Jonny’s Panini and decided to give this new place a try.
Jonny’s Panini is just a short walk from Times Square and features a long list of paninis, baked goods and coffees. A cartoon mural of the owner, Chef Jonny Giordani, which decorates the right wall as you walk in adds a fun and happy element to the space.
So many delicious sounding panini options made it hard to choose what to get. Chef Jonny (who is hilarious) helped us out a bit and we got the Prosciurger™ and a Prosciutto e Provolone Panini.
The Prosciurger™, a signature on the menu is probably one of the greatest creations ever. How has nobody done this before? Chef Jonny’s a genius. The burger is a homemade blend of prosciutto, mortadella and cooked ham, served on a pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato and mozzarella. The combination is everything any prosciutto lover has to try.
Our second item was the Prosciutto e Provolone Panini which was prosciutto, sharp provolone cheese, tomato and lettuce with a basil pesto. Pesto lovers – this panini is a must try. The family recipe is dairy free – which gives you a pure pesto flavor and we couldn’t get enough of it.
It was nice to not only eat so much delicious prosciutto, but also speak to Chef Jonny and hear about his background and roots in Italy. We’re looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu… and another Prosciurger™.
